あげ【上げ･揚げ】

●上げをする make a tuck 《in a dress》; tuck 《a dress》

・上げを上げる 〔新たに〕 make a tuck; 〔既存のものをさらに〕 raise the tuck (that is already there)

・上げを下ろす take [let] out a tuck

・娘の背がのびたので, 母親は去年上げたスカートの上げを下ろした. Because her daughter grew, the mother let down the tuck of the skirt she'd raised last year.
